📜 Subhashita Ratna Bhandagara — Digital Sanskrit Library
Welcome to Subhashita Ratna Bhandagara—a digital library and interactive reader designed to make classical Sanskrit wisdom accessible, searchable, and structured for modern readers. Subhaṣhitas (सुभाषित) represent centuries of accumulated Indian ethics, philosophy, poetry, and practical guidance.
While digital archives of raw Devanagari verses exist, navigating thousands of untranslated ślokas across complex directory hierarchies presents a challenge. This project bridges that gap by providing a first-of-its-kind dual English and Hindi translation pipeline across the entire corpus, alongside real-time search and an intuitive web UI.
📖 Launch Interactive Reader
Explore thousands of Sanskrit ślokas with instant Devanagari line-formatting, dual translations (Hindi & English), interactive directory tree navigation, and instant client-side search.
✨ Key Highlights & Innovations
- First Dual English & Hindi Translations: Generates side-by-side, grammatically correct Hindi meanings (हिंदी अर्थ) and natural English prose for every verse.
- Structured Directory Navigation: Effortlessly browse sections, subfolders, and individual chapter files matching traditional categorization.
- Real-Time Multi-Language Search: Instantly filter across Devanagari Sanskrit text, Hindi meanings, and English translations simultaneously.
- Smart Śloka Formatting: Verses are automatically formatted line-by-line with single daṇḍa (।) breaks while keeping verse numbers bound to double daṇḍas (॥ 1 ॥).
- Mobile-First Experience: Features a responsive slide-out drawer menu optimized for smartphone, tablet, and desktop reading.
Notice & Disclaimer: This digital library is curated for educational, academic, and general awareness purposes. While automated LLM pipelines, vLLM batch generation, and OCR cleanup scripts were used to process and translate the text, it may contain typographical or translation variations. Readers are encouraged to cross-reference with traditional printed commentary for critical academic studies.
📚 Source Corpus & Reference Archives
The underlying Sanskrit text corpus and structural hierarchy for this digital reader were aggregated and curated from the open-source classical repository:
- Source Corpus: vishvAsa / kAvyam (Subhaṣhita Ratna Bhaṇḍāgāram)
- Translation Engine: Qwen 2.5 7B Instruct (via vLLM on NVIDIA A100) & Azure OpenAI GPT-4o
- Web Stack: Next.js (App Router), Tailwind CSS v4, and Vercel Hosting
🤖 A Note on AI Collaboration: Approximately 95% of the data extraction scripts, OCR cleanup routines, vLLM batch generation pipelines, and Next.js UI components for this project were developed in pair-programming collaboration with Gemini AI.
